The Help Centre

Which areas do you cover?

We cover the whole of the UK.

One of the most convenient aspects of HDD is the mobile set up. We only need to transport one piece of plant machinery, the mud mixing system which is integrated onto the HGV and the tooling required for the job. As a result, from our base in Northamptonshire, we can be anywhere in the country, mobilised and ready to go in just a few hours.

How do I know if HDD is suitable for me?

We have completed projects in every area and environment you can imagine; from remote river crossings to the densely populated suburbs of London. In our experience there are very few areas which can't be successfully set up for HDD works - but if you are in any doubt at all, get in touch and we can arrange a meeting, either in person or electronically to discuss the options with you.

How much will it cost me to opt for HDD?

This will depend on exactly what you need doing. Regular line work tends to be priced per metre, whereas specialised crossings tend to be slightly more expensive just to cover the additional risks involved of tooling / equipment loss (if we were to loose rods and back reamer under the M1 for example, we won't be digging it back up again!). The best thing to do is to contact us and we can discuss all of your options.

HDD Glossary of Terms

Many people find themselves confused when dealing with well-known terms that are similar to drilling terms, but mean something slightly different when concerned with a HDD project or those words which you may have neve heard in any context before. This glossary of terms was compiled to help foster better communication between us as HDD contractors and our potential and existing clients.

We have lots of free material in our Media Resource section which will help you to understand the basics of the HDD process.

"Back Pressure"

Back pressure refers to pressure opposed to the desired flow of a fluid in a confined place such as a pipe. Back pressure is not pressure traveling in the opposite direction, it is actually the remnants of pressure in the desired direction of movement. Back pressure has a similar meaning of pressurized obstruction when used regarding drilling, rehabilitation methods, or installing pipe.
