Installation of 3km of 250mm Water Main

Using our brand new Vermeer 24x40, we are currently working with Clancys on behalf of SSE to install a new 3km long stretch of 250mm water main on West Park Road in Lingfield.

The ground conditions in the area are a little changeable, ranging from almost pure sandstone to the clay you can see in the images below. While the sandstone causes headaches for HDD works and has required a some sections to be open cut in the worst areas; we have been progressing well, pushing ahead of shedule. While the ground has improved, unfortunately due to general wear and tear, questionable past road repairs and a long term existing leak on the current water main, the road surface is in a fairly bad condition - we've added a reaming pass, adjusted the mud-mix and added an additional pressure hole on each 120m drill shot to ensure that the clay doesn't compact to the extent that the road is compromised - so far, so good...

A special mention to the gang from Clancys for their hard work and efficiency on the project as well as the operators from HydroCleanse who are working hard to ensure that the spoils are kept under control and removed.
